Zara Shoes | Ksubi Jeans

"I wish I was a guy,' is what I said to Jack the first time he wore his new kicks. He bought these while we were in Malaysia for the Japan leg of our trip and has not stopped talking about how comfortable they are to walk in and how warm and dry they keep his feet - jealous! My faithful Acne Pistols have been successful at the latter but I'll admit they do start to hurt after a full day of walking. But just look at these shoes - part sneaker, part boot. I love the leather finish and it's ability to be dressy but casual at the same time. Where can I get my hands on a girl version? I don't think anything like this even exists for us! The closest thing I can think of are Isabel Marant sneakers (and even that is way off).

I don't usually take much notice in men's fashion (I don't believe I've ever spoken about it on my blog) but I may have to start! Jack also bought this amazing duffle coat from Zara which I picked out for him but I'm slightly annoyed because I've yet to find myself a new coat. I'll have to persuade him to be on the other side of the camera for once so I can show you all.

Apologies for the lack of posts - I haven't had much time to sit down at the computer since we got to Japan (which I suppose is probably a good thing). I can tick Tokyo Disneyland, Kyoto and Osaka off the to do list and I'll hopefully have some pictures of my travels so far up for you to see. Thank you all for your lovely comments and well wishes - I love reading them and I promise to reply to you as soon as I can! x

If flats just don’t cut it for you anymore, if brogues make you feel a little too hipster and you’re waiting for the right moment to pull out those sandals for summer, then maybe you need a pair of loafers to keep you occupied in the interim. Just the right balance between feminine prim and proper and chic masculine dressing, loafers go with your skirts, dresses, shorts and pants, all year round. I love the way they play down a girly dress or skirt and add this man-ly twist. I couldn’t actually see any other flat shoe fitting so well with Alexa Chung or Kirsten Dunst’s outfits. That’s just the beauty of the loafer. You don’t quite know why you’re so attracted to it but once you put it on it just works its magic.

For you lovely people who don’t have the time or patience to shop or maybe you’re like me and just disappointed by the what the retailers are bringing out, I’ve compiled a selection of my top black loafers for the season from our favourite e-tailers, ASOS and Topshop. Enjoy!

Uni is slowly drawing to a close (I’ve finished my classes for the year, just two more exams) – good luck to anyone with exams and assignments. Not too much longer to go!

While I'm hopeless when it comes to shoes and jewellery (I promise I'm learning), as soon as I saw these Lanvin heels, my heart stopped. Now this is some serious shoe porn. I could certainly learn to love (and endure) wearing these heels, despite the fact they look incredibly painful to walk in. They'd probably spend more time in my room sitting there, unworn looking pretty rather than being on.

I'm immediately drawn to the gold detail of the heel, especially the cut out wedge. From the back it's geometric, almost mirror like. It's a little on the edgier side (and somewhat impractical - not sure how much support this actually gives your feet) but the ankle straps bring them back to the feminine. I love ankle straps, on heels, on flats (hello Chloe) and wedges. There's just something about the ankle and that area that is to be desired. Why do you think everyone loves cuffing their jeans/ pants. Ankle straps are just the best, they keep your foot in your shoe whilst  elongating the legs  - functional and stylish. Double whammy!

And for the sweet price of $1490, these babies can be yours. But you'll be living off mi goreng for a long while.

Ever since I saw Jules with these heels I just knew I had to have it. Enough heel to give me some much needed height but hopefully still comfortable and relatively easy to walk in. I really love the ankle strap. Especially after seeing them on Chloe flats and heels. They just add a little extra something (plus I'm sure they help reduce the heel slippage).

Luckily Steve Madden lives in Westfield Pitt St so I won't have the hassle of buying it online. Downside is, I have to wait for three months until the summer collection drops. And it's going to be at least $50 more expensive. Hey, what happened to the $US being equal to $AUS? Even Apple's jumped on that bandwagon and changed the prices of their apps and music. Honestly, the amount they mark up our goods is ridiculous. How can NARS foundation be $40 in the US and $99 here? And a Mulberry Bayswater $1600AUS compared to £675RRP (which is around $1100AUS). As much as I love online shopping I hate waiting for my package to arrive in the post and sometimes the shipping costs are so unreasonable. And I run the risk of having something not fit or look like the way I thought it would and then having to pay more to ship it back. First world problem...

"I’m such a visual person. I find that I wear more of my shoes if I can shop from the pictures on the outside of the boxes! This is how shoe closets are organized at magazines and I brought the concept to my home." - Tracey Taylor

I've recently realised that owning nice expensive clothes is only half of it - the other half is having a home/apartment with nice, arty decor to house them in. The other day I stumbled across The Coveteur and discovered a whole blog dedicated to the wardrobe and interior decorating style of people in the fashion industry. I find myself lusting over firstly their amazing shoe collections and secondly their wardrobe organisation. With my current situation, I'm trying to cram everything I own into a shoe box of a closet.  This doesn't account for all my blazers and jackets which are hanging on a coat rack behind my door and my small shoe collection which lives by the front door. I live for the day where I can own a whole lot of fancy, expensive clothes worthy of dedicating large amounts of space to in my future dwelling. I hope to have enough wardrobe space to be able to organise things by colour or item and hang them with uniform wooden hangers. I also hope to grow my shoe collection so much so I can give them their own shelf space and try out Tracey Taylor's polaroid + box storage idea. Love love love!
