You can never go past the faithful tailored shirt. It's just one of those things that has been around and will always be around. And ever since boyfriend shirts became acceptable, there's a little something for everyone, no matter what your style.

Today I sported a sleeveless blazer and a long sleeve striped shirt to which my boyfriend replied 'You know your style is very chic and classy these days,' which took me by surprise. I'm usually not one to walk around looking like a working woman all the time (although I do love the blazer/ tee shirt combo) but lately I've been finding my self more and more attracted to tailored shirts and blazers. And I can say that nobody does shirts better than Dion Lee.

The Line II lookbook is shirt after shirt, in different colours, fabrics and fits and I am in love. Sometimes long sleeve shirts are too prim and proper, so I'm all for the sleeveless shirt. Perfect for summer, a little more casual and if you pop a blazer over the top it just looks like a long sleeve shirt. The details in this line are beautiful, the shoulder straps, the pockets, the back detail and the tailoring.

So this baby was a birthday present from my best friend. It came a little late, but still beloved nonetheless. It's smaller than we expected (we were both a little surprised), I guess that's why they call it La Pochette, but enough to hold an iPhone, ID/ keycard, lipgloss and money - and that's pretty all that any girl could need. I have a wedding this weekend and my dress is wine but I will be sporting this little one no matter what it looks (also the fact that my American Apparel pencil case clutch got oil stains... I know, how careless of me). Now I need to try and top this for her birthday, perhaps buying the same thing in a different colour?

It's been the craziest week with assignments, catch up dinners, store birthday celebrations and the usual uni/ intern/ work trio. Finally I get a bit of time off on a Friday night to relax, watch some Arrested Development with Jack and catch up on some blogging. Took a bit of time behind the camera today (yes my colouring is terrible and so is the lightning in my room) to shoot my beautiful gifts from the team at Samantha Wills.

This was my birthday present from the girls, the Bohemian Bardot ring and Verona cuff. And this is how they treat their interns! Seriously, I love interning at SW - it's such a fun environment but everyone works very hard, the office is beautiful and the girls there are super friendly, helpful and genuine. It's great because I'm actually learning and doing things that are relevant to what I want to do once I graduate and finding an internship like that especially in the fashion industry is tres difficult!

And don't get me started on the jewels. I'm not really an accessories person, but the SW collections beg me to reconsider. It's statement jewellery so it works well whether you love to pile on the jewels or take a statement cuff to go with your tee and jeans combo (that's exactly what I'm doing with mine!) Plus where else are you going to find a jewellery company that gives you a wooden box with every piece! They make the perfect jewellery box or work just as well for decoration on a coffee table or bookshelf. It makes me so happy to see all the success Samantha and her team have had within the time I've been interning and I'm so proud and honoured to be a part of it all.

Enjoy your weekend! I will be slaving away at work, earning back the money I spent on a sleeveless blazer, Taylor Swift tickets and Acne jumper.

What I wouldn't give for one Hermes enamel bracelet, or maybe two, or three...
Sometimes I wonder how these people can afford such expensive things. I mean $600+ on a little bracelet? That could feed me breakfast, lunch and dinner for two months! But then again I guess you're talking to a girl who spent $600 on boots the other day. Ah how I would love to wake up to a box full of wrist wear from Hermes, and not be able to decide what colour to wear so I just wear them all. At least it's something to work towards. Big city dreams.

Looking out the office window wishing I wasn't wearing jeans, boots and a varsity jacket. It may be sunny right now but don't let that fool you. Sydney weather is so spontaneous, rain can hit at the worst time! I hate being a season (or two) behind the fashionistas living in the northern hemisphere. Street style blogs make me super envious (of the clothes and the climate) and provide me little inspiration because it's too cold here to attempt any of these looks. Hurry up summer! I'm just about ready for bare legs, sandals and tee shirts... on second thoughts. Give me a little while longer at the gym.

New IT bag alert. 3.1 Philip Lim Pashli Satchel.
Giving the Celine shopper, a run for its money (and certainly more affordable). I think I love it so much because it looks like the Celine, but it doesn't have the horizontal zipper than makes it look like a robot face (silly boyfriend ruining fashion). But seriously, how good does the functional and yet so stylish gold zipper detail look? Practical also if you ever need to expand the width of the bag. And I love how the chain hangs off the bottom. It's roomy, chic, simple and practical. The colours are perfect for autumn (I hate living in the southern hemisphere) and the shark textured leather is standout.

No prize for guessing what's in that Acne box. I am finally the proud owner of Pistol Boots. And boy, are they even more amazing in real life. Certainly worth the money. I've been stomping around in them everyday - they are a little stiff at first, but they're super comfortable to walk in (the heel is deceiving) and they go with absolutely everything. They are the perfect shoe to take with me to Japan next year.

These were a 'self' birthday present - yes I actually give myself gifts (any excuse to buy something right?). I had my 20th birthday on the weekend. Spent a fun day with my best friend shopping around Paddington and eating a scrumptious lunch at Pieno in Surry Hills. Went to Sushi-Ya with the boyfriend and my parents for dinner. Then on Saturday, Jack took me out to an Italian restaurant on the wharf at Darling Harbour followed by amazing house seats (seriously right in the middle only about 10 rows back) to see Mary Poppins, which was incredible by the way. I knew I would love it, I was more scared of Jack hating it because it's a musical and you know how boys get around musical theatre. But he loved it too. And anyone in Sydney should definitely go and see it!

This slick back look is clearly working for Emma because here she is again, in yet another shiny, sequinned, metallic themed shoot with her hair styled like that again (see Vogue with Mario Testino). Especially loving the detachable pearl collar. Who said you needed to wear it over a shirt? She's wearing it like it's a necklace! Another wonderful photoshoot... what else is expected?

Here's a girl that isn't afraid to step out of her sisters' shadow. Elizabeth Olsen is certainly making waves as an emerging 'it' girl with a killer wardrobe. Of course we know where she gets it from - she's the younger sister of Mary Kate and Ashley and with genes like that who wouldn't have great style? Who else didn't realise MK&A had a younger sister? Or any other siblings for that matter? (Just did a quick Google and found out they have an older brother... not so attractive though so don't get too excited). I'm impressed that she's managed do her own thing and become successful in her own right without riding off the fame of her sisters. I actually prefer her style to MK&A's - so very refined, polished and minimal chic. None of that sometimes questionable boho, hippie, grandma vintage stuff. That smile and those oh so lovely cheekbones? She looks like the way MK&A should have if they hadn't smoked or partied hardied. And she's way taller than her older sisters. I actually think she ended up with all the good Olsen genes. Lucky girl.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that sleeveless blazers are the next big thing, although I did have a little help from Shop Til You Drop and Cue who have featured this style in their Sumer 2011/ 12 campaign. When does a sleeveless blazer just become a vest? I'm not too sure - I think it might be the tailoring, the side pockets, the lapels. Like you can actually imagine someone has gone and ripped the sleeves off it (not encouraged with any old blazers you have lying around). And the best thing about it is its versatility. Chic finish over a blouse or singlet in summer and over a long sleeve in winter (like the more polished version of the fashionista fur vest). I especially love the cut of the sleeve, the almost muscle singlet style rather than the thinner shoulder strap of the traditional vest. The black Cue sleeveless blazer is a must for my summer wardrobe. I hope that I can come back to this post six months down the track and have the satisfaction of knowing I spotted it in its early stages.

Does anyone see the resemblance to Nicole Warne?

Never been much of a fan of Oroton (in fact I've only ever considered it an accessories brand that I can buy things for my mum from), but these latest campaign images beg me to reconsider. Whoever in Oroton that decided to get Tommy Ton on board for their latest campaign shoot is a genius. They look so much more appealing and accessible and still stay true to the style JAK & JIL, which we've known and loved. Never seen anything like it from an accessories label (correct me if I'm wrong) - I would have never thought candid, cropped, outfit detail images would work so effectively on a campaign. It really works on both levels for the consumer (apologies for taking my marketing spin on this) - for the high fashion pack, synonomous for featuring on such style blogs and also for the masses who can really appreciate the everyday, mundane, caught in the moment shots. And I love the styling, really compliments the bags whilst not taking the attention away from it. I read it was Taylor Tomasi Hill's doing (and with the end result, I wouldn't be surprised). These looked amazing in the window of my local Oroton and would look equally as exciting as a double page spread in a magazine. I'm extremely impressed, especially for an Australian brand. It seems Oroton, that I have underestimated you. My bad.

Still fairly new to the fashion blogosphere, I love coming across new personal style blogs. Sabrina, better know as afterDRK has shot right up the top of my favourite bloggers list (with Style Scrapbook, Gary Pepper Vintage and Song of Style). Sabrina hails from Amsterdam (why is it that all the fashionistas come from the Scandinavian regions?), she's gorgeous and has the most flawless outfit and wardrobe choices. Thus afterDRK has become my 'girl I want to be.'

These recent outfit posts feature pieces that I have been dying to buy and also inspire me to copy her look with the things I have in my closet. She has this minimalist, clean and chic aesthetic - everything in her wardrobe is solid colours and she stays away from crazy prints. Her style is what I one day hope to achieve. That floral Stylestalker heartthrob shirt looks killer with white shorts and cons. And don't get me started on how versatile low white cons are (I would buy a pair now but I'm considering waiting it out until I go to Japan. They're only $50!). I'm just imagining myself with all these items and actually having the option to work it into an outfit. I find I often plan some ideal outfit in my head (if only I had the money) then have to settle for something less than average. I could really go for those Acne Pistol boots and speckled knit right now. Half this girl's wardrobe is Acne which I am so envious of (it's going to take me a month to save up for Pistols). I wonder if they're cheaper in Europe?

I haven't posted as frequently as I'd like to since I've gone back to uni - I've just been so overwhelmed with all the readings, assignments and semester organisation but I'm going to make it my mission to update this as often as I can even if it's short posts like this. It's my little escape, where I have full artistic and creative control over my content and writing. Stay tuned x
