Photos by Aprilia Love

When Aprilia told me I reminded her of Rachel Bilson after seeing these shots, it was as if all my Christmases had come at once. If you've been reading my blog for a while, you'll know I am utterly in love with Rachel Bilson - she's my style icon, spirit animal and just all round awesome, so a compliment like that pretty flattering. I've come to realise just how much RB has influenced this particular look - it was actually after seeing some candid shots of her rocking boyfriend jeans, heeled boots and a feminine blazer that I went on a search for my own pair of loose denim. And it was Rachel that convinced me ombre hair was still cool three years later.

I finally got to pull out the Sass & Bide which has been waiting patiently in my wardrobe to be worn for about 8 months. The top was a bit of a splurge ($370 to be exact), much to the disapproval of my boyfriend and my other fashion uneducated friends. Of course I was drawn to the asymmetrical hem and the one sleeve. It makes a statement without being too over the top - just the way I like it. The reason it's taken me so long to wear this is because, being one of the most expensive pieces in my wardrobe, I felt like I'd be insulting it if I paired it with cheap jeans or pants. Does anyone else get like that?

This is probably my favourite look to date and a huge part of that had to do with Aprilia's brilliant photography and direction. I'm not going to lie, I spent a large portion of my savings in Japan, so I've come back with a handful of new pieces I'd love to share with you. More frequent outfit posts to come! x

a/w lookbook. watson x watson.

Late last year I had the pleasure of previewing this collection and after what seems like forever, it's finally available for you (and me) to get your hot little hands on  I was in awe after seeing the lookbook - it's one thing to see these clothes on a hanger, it's another to see how the designers intended these pieces to be styled. Described as 'any-day and everyday pieces... the kind you dress up and dress down', Somer and Liberty's first A/W collection (you never would have guessed) boasts wearable knits, sequins, fur and leather - everything you could possibly need to keep you warm and snug for winter. I've got my eye on the Escher print pieces (one of the better pyjama/ print scarf takes I've seen out there) and the red and white pom pom knit. I fall more in love with this collection every time I see it, probably because I could see myself wearing each and every one of these pieces (styled in a similar way too). Keep your eye out for the design duo - I can see them making some serious waves in the industry within the next few years.

Check Watson x Watson out here.

PS. Sorry for the mini hiatus - I'm still shaking off the fact I'm not in holiday mode anymore. But I'm back with plenty of ideas to make this blog better than ever :)

return to tiffany.

The signature blue box tied in white ribbon. You know that whatever is inside is going to be absolutely divine. I think I speak on behalf of every girl out there when I say it's a dream to own a little piece of Tiffany jewellery (we have Holly Golightly to thank for that). I was lucky enough to have that dream come true this Valentine's Day. Jack and I were walking around Osaka a few days ago and he spontaneously pulled us into Tiffany's and about 15 minutes later I walked out with a blue bag in hand.  And can I say it was quite a magical experience. I was pinching myself because I couldn't believe I was actually picking something out for me to keep. I am one lucky duck.

Hope your Valentine's Day/ Galentines Day (or just another regular day for those anti-Valentines day people) was wonderful, whether you spent it with your other half, your bestie or your gal pals. I spent mine on a tour around the base of Mt. Fuji, Hakone and am treating myself to some R&R at a hot springs resort before some hardcore shopping in Tokyo tomorrow. x

Zara Shoes | Ksubi Jeans

"I wish I was a guy,' is what I said to Jack the first time he wore his new kicks. He bought these while we were in Malaysia for the Japan leg of our trip and has not stopped talking about how comfortable they are to walk in and how warm and dry they keep his feet - jealous! My faithful Acne Pistols have been successful at the latter but I'll admit they do start to hurt after a full day of walking. But just look at these shoes - part sneaker, part boot. I love the leather finish and it's ability to be dressy but casual at the same time. Where can I get my hands on a girl version? I don't think anything like this even exists for us! The closest thing I can think of are Isabel Marant sneakers (and even that is way off).

I don't usually take much notice in men's fashion (I don't believe I've ever spoken about it on my blog) but I may have to start! Jack also bought this amazing duffle coat from Zara which I picked out for him but I'm slightly annoyed because I've yet to find myself a new coat. I'll have to persuade him to be on the other side of the camera for once so I can show you all.

Apologies for the lack of posts - I haven't had much time to sit down at the computer since we got to Japan (which I suppose is probably a good thing). I can tick Tokyo Disneyland, Kyoto and Osaka off the to do list and I'll hopefully have some pictures of my travels so far up for you to see. Thank you all for your lovely comments and well wishes - I love reading them and I promise to reply to you as soon as I can! x

travel diary. singapore.

o1. o2. Celine store. I died. Went around touching all the clothes/ leather goods.
o3. Marina Bay. The hotel in the background is Marina Bay Sands. It has the longest elevated swimming pool (infinity pool that is) on top of the surfboard looking platform. Note the 'floating' LV store as well.
o4. Ion shopping mall on Orchard Road.
o5. Universal Studios, Sentosa.
o6. Mel's Drive In. Yes I made everyone eat there purely because of the name.
07. The newly opened Transformers 4D Ride. The technology used to make this ride is just insane.
08. One of the fine dishes from the seafood dinner we ate at East Coast Park.

I'm in love with Singapore. I knew it from the moment we drove out of Changi Airport. Plenty of greenery lines the highways, the streets are clean, the architecture is unique, the food is cheap, the public transport is reliable and accessible. And did I mention the shopping is awesome? The Singapore city planners decided to put all the malls down Orchard Road which makes it a one stop shopping destination for everyone. They won me over with their Celine and YSL store as well as the superior range they offer at Zara (they actually have stock of what they show on the website).

On the second day we went to Universal Studios and as a warm up to Disneyland in Tokyo went on some of the 'thrill rides'. I'm not one for rides because I hate that dropping sensation in your stomach but nonetheless I faced my fear. It was the perfect time to go because all the kids were back to school, we didn't even have to line up for any rides. We just walked through the queue sections and went straight onto the ride vehicle.

I left my heart in Singapore. The country made such a good impression on me that Jack and I are actually considering moving here if we can find jobs. If you're travelling around Asia, I highly recommend you stay in Singapore for a few days and you'll understand what I'm talking about.

I'm back in KL now, packing and prepping for the second leg of our holiday in Japan which I am most excited about. Malaysia was quite relaxing because I've been here before but I love the feeling of being in a foreign country where nothing is familiar to you and all your experiences are new.

arty oval.

Couldn't help sharing my latest splurge with you. Yes I caved and finally got myself a YSL arty oval ring (or what I like to call 'the blogger ring') after finding a flagship store in Singapore. Success! Of course things like that don't come cheap, but somehow when you're on holiday the price tag doesn't seem to bother you nearly as much. Normally I would be quite antsy after such a big (and perhaps irrational) spend but an hour later and I didn't even feel a thing - is that a bad thing? x
