plaid shirt days.

31st December. Time really does fly though it's quite satisfying to look back and see how much you've grown in 365 days, your achievements and your personal wins. One of the ways I document this is through my blog and I can't thank you all enough for the love and continual support you've shown me through the comments, likes and follows. I wouldn't be half as motivated to keep posting if it weren't for my readers.

It seems fitting I'd ring in the new year with the expertise from the team at Original A salon. As you might have noticed, I chopped off my ombre ends (they were getting a little unhealthy), put some layers back into it and revived ye olde side fringe. Back in my high school days I was known for my side fringe so this look seems a little nostalgic (and I'm still getting used to having hair in my face once again).

I said it yesterday, but my fondness of this plaid shirt is just beyond. I thought I was crazy to buy it in the middle of summer but any thermometer reading below 23 degrees is deemed plaid shirt appropriate weather (yes, there is a more socially acceptable version of the Lowes plaid shirt). I think my new blog goal is to make as many Taylor Swift song references in my posts as possible and this last post for 2012 is no exception. I believe her plaid shirt days were referring to her short lived relationship with the hunk-a-spunk that is Jake Gyllenhaal.

I hope you all have a happy new year, enjoy the celebrations and I'll see you on the flip side!

purchase party.

Dieppa Restrepo loafer, Dress Up tank and Maison Balzac candle (both from My Chameleon), Joe's Jeans denim.

The most satisfying purchases often come at the most unsuitable of times.Yes I may have resulted to a mini spending spree in the middle of the final week of classes for the year as a way of maintaining my sanity and slightly increase my happiness levels. Don't judge. I know you're normally supposed to mark the end of semester with something special but I've clearly decided to arrive a little too early to the party. Looks like I won't have the cashola to make that celebratory purchase happen anyway. But I am more than content with what is laid out in front of me.

Cannot rave on enough about these Dieppa Restrepo loafers. The quality of the leather is incredible and I survived a whole day traversing across the city in them and no blisters. It's certainly a huge jump from my canvas Topshop ones that look more like grandma's bed slippers than a classier version of ballet flats. And as for that Dress Up tank which has so cleverly blended into my bed sheets - don't ever underestimate the power of a simple but well cut cotton top. Easy and breezy. It's like that skin colour pencil in the box of your Faber Castell's. You don't find it absolutely essential to the set but without it you're completely lost (I mean you can't colour anyone's skin in!). I'm heading towards the home stretch - an essay, a reflective journal and a marketing exam all happening early next week. My mind is already in holiday mode

Don't forget to enter the Popbasic giveaway. Less than a week to go!

Fashion Week has come to a close much to the relief of many (a little part inside of me is overjoyed). You probably don't believe me but waiting in a queue five times longer than the show actually goes for, running around from one venue to another and taking hundreds of photos whereby only one out of a hundred is semi decent is actually quite tiring. I only went to a couple of shows each day and didn't sleep any later than usual but I am exhausted (and as a result sick in bed). I can only imagine what the editors, writers and top bloggers must be feeling like.

My secret goal for the week was to be street snapped (Tommy Ton, Nam or Phil Oh preferably) which was unfortunately never achieved. What I learnt was that to be street snapped you either have to be a big name in fashion (ie. Taylor Tomasi, Rumi Neely, Christine Centenera), a model off duty or wear weird crazy shit that photographs well. Since I don't fit into the first two categories I thought I'd attempt the latter and go all out with colour, which as you know, is a huge step for me. I love how the blue on printed Romance top matches the colour of my jeans. Sadly I didn't achieve what I set out to (there is always next year), but I am pleased with the way this outfit just came together.

By now you should know that I don't blog chronologically (or do I just hide it really well?) so you may start seeing collection recaps and posts all jumbled up. Keep checking back for more.
