susanna.

In what one might consider a twist of fate, the coveted Chloe Susanna boots appeared on eBay significantly cheaper than the sky high price tag. And just my luck that I chanced upon the listing, waited anxiously until the final moments of the auction to ensure my future with these beloved boots. Sure enough I was the highest (and only) bidder and I lived happily ever after traipsing around in my two new pairs of shoes. Two new pairs, in one week. And as I mentioned before I'm not exactly a shoe fiend so this is completely out of character. Not going to think about the fact that the total amount for my Chloe + Chanel's is sadly close to the four digit mark. When did I become one of those sick people that thinks it's acceptable to spend ridiculous amounts on shoes? I'm already having thoughts about a pair of Louboutins...

espadrilles.

"Life's short, buy the shoes," replied Aprilia after discussing whether it was worth my hard earned savings to end my year + long search for Chanel espadrilles. It's been near impossible to get my hands (or rather feet) on a pair that actually fit (especially with the inaccurate sizing which is said to have been rectified this season) and in a versatile colour way but as fate would have it, I found myself in a Cinderella/ shoe fits situation where I just couldn't say no. My first Chanel was just as satisfying as I anticipated. I've never been much of a shoe person but my new espadrilles may have just convinced me otherwise.

the new black.

Man Repeller book, Calvin Klein bra, Tibi tank, Asos shorts, Comme des Garcons wallet.

Black is the new black. Always has and always will be. Despite my efforts to diversify the colours of my wardrobe, half is black, and the other half is made up of black's little sister, brother and cousin, white, grey and navy. In saying that, at least my blacks (well the one's I've purchased recently anyway) are patterned - sheer, embossed and textured.

I've been bedridden for the last few days with some weird undiagnosable combination of a migraine + stomach ache and just about the only thing I can do is read because computer screens hurt my head. Lucky Leandra has been keeping me company, with her hilarious antics, characteristic wit, brutal honesty and her love misfortunes. It's been a great read so far - I would have finished it in a day but I've been savouring it like I would a cupcake. Most effective (and more healthy) in smaller doses. It's officially available in Australia at the end of this month but I just wanted to be one of the first here to read it. As you do.

For my lovely Melbournian readers, if you feel like a night of all things style and Spring Racing (along with some bubbly) head over to SABA in Chadstone tomorrow night from 6 - 9pm. Presenter and blogger, Rebecca Judd will be in attendance offering her personal picks and style tips.  There's 20% off everything in store for one night only (more if you bring friends along), gifts with purchase and plenty more surprises. All the details are here on the SABA Facebook page!

the haul.

I love birthdays specifically for the presents. Not the ones given from others (though they are always well received), but because it's the perfect excuse/ guise to treat. yo. self. (It's the best day of the year!) A little something to congratulate yourself for surviving yet another year in one piece and because no can ever question the price tag of your purchases. I tend to go a little overboard with the self gift giving, particularly this time around where I figured I owed it to myself to buy a complete outfit. It initially started out with the Skin 5's (which are my new favourite denim cut, any shorties out there go get yourself a pair). After some good time spent on the Acne online store I had my heart set on the classic bomber which Jack kindly bought for me and the watercolour tank. The Wang shoes I had stumbled upon on Sincerely Jules (bad idea) and I loved the fact it had ankle straps and a thick but short heel. Now I'm just dealing with the fact that I'm 22 and Cara Delevingne and Karlie Kloss just turned 21. What am I doing with my life!

pumped up kicks.

Bobby Wedge Suede Sneakers (try Matches, Forward by Elyse Walker, Net-A-Porter and La Garconne)

Bobby meet world. After months of debating 'should I, shouldn't I?', pondering the life span of the wedge sneaker trend, I finally committed. After some serious lurking on this Purse Forum thread (highly recommended if you need any help with sizing/ who has stock) and frequenting online stockists daily, I settled on this beautiful Gris/ light grey (it was that or black or cream) which seems to change colour depending on the light. It's part grey, part taupe and part khaki - a combination of all my favourite last season shades. I can definitely vouch for the versatility of these kicks (as can everyone else who owns a pair) and I love that they make me look taller without the pain of heels.

If you plan on buying anything designer, I'd also recommend Matches who shipped these shoes within three hours of me ordering. I purchased them Friday afternoon and received them Tuesday morning. Although I had to pay for it, I was impressed with the speed, packaging and service with my email enquiries.

Expect a post overload this next week. I've been out of action for the last week trying to spend as much time with Jack before he jets off to Japan for two weeks. I've got a whole bunch of posts I want to get through before I go to Bali next Friday so keep your eyes peeled for an outfit post, product reviews and my personal favourite, packing flat lays!

purchase party.

Dieppa Restrepo loafer, Dress Up tank and Maison Balzac candle (both from My Chameleon), Joe's Jeans denim.

The most satisfying purchases often come at the most unsuitable of times.Yes I may have resulted to a mini spending spree in the middle of the final week of classes for the year as a way of maintaining my sanity and slightly increase my happiness levels. Don't judge. I know you're normally supposed to mark the end of semester with something special but I've clearly decided to arrive a little too early to the party. Looks like I won't have the cashola to make that celebratory purchase happen anyway. But I am more than content with what is laid out in front of me.

Cannot rave on enough about these Dieppa Restrepo loafers. The quality of the leather is incredible and I survived a whole day traversing across the city in them and no blisters. It's certainly a huge jump from my canvas Topshop ones that look more like grandma's bed slippers than a classier version of ballet flats. And as for that Dress Up tank which has so cleverly blended into my bed sheets - don't ever underestimate the power of a simple but well cut cotton top. Easy and breezy. It's like that skin colour pencil in the box of your Faber Castell's. You don't find it absolutely essential to the set but without it you're completely lost (I mean you can't colour anyone's skin in!). I'm heading towards the home stretch - an essay, a reflective journal and a marketing exam all happening early next week. My mind is already in holiday mode

vacation.

Panama hat from J Crew
Strappy sandals from ATP
Playsuit from Zimmermann

What a coincidence that the last three things I bought (well the hat was a birthday present from the BFF) make the perfect summer vacation outfit. Maybe my wardrobe is trying to tell me something? Deb and I have our sights set on Bali in February next year - our aim is to have the perfect Instagram holiday (think plenty of poolside hangs and scenic sights). I can picture myself wearing this with the sand between my toes, soaking up the sunshine. Too bad I have Mount Everest sized pile of assignments to plough through first before I can get planning.

Acquiring shiny new things and blogging is all that's keeping me sane right now. I've noticed that I always seem to divulge in the back stories of my purchases but I find it quite therapeutic to document them (and there's the slightest chance you might even find yourself amused or educated by my rants). It's interesting how an object, a sound, a smell, a touch can trigger even the most of fondest of memories and I hope that somewhere down the track I'll be reminded of how I stumbled upon the perfect strappy sandals after months of searching while looking to buy a white button up shirt or the day I learnt how the panama hat got its name.

Funny story that, I didn't realise there were genuine panama hats just like there are akubra. Workers wore them during the construction of the Panama Canal and it was made popular by President Theodore Roosevelt who donned one when he visited the site.

One of my standouts at NYFW this season was 3.1 Phillip Lim. I'm drawn to more wearable collections (they don't call it ready to wear for nothing), pieces I could envisage myself walking down the street in, ones that could easily be at home in my shoebox of a wardrobe - Theysken's Theory, Dries van Noten, J Crew, Thakoon Addition and Rag & Bone were among my other favourites. So at 11pm on a week night when the BFF and I were running empty on sleep, energy and motivation, we decided that it might be a bright idea to peruse Moda Operandi and treat ourselves to a little somethin' somethin'. Turns out these I Heart Nueva York muscle singlets set us back a little over $100 and after a little 'should we, shouldn't we' (and partly inspired by Aprilia's yolo Marant sneakers purchase), we decide to just go for it. Too bad I have to wait until next year to wear it. Hey Phillip Lim, how about making my singlet now?

new in.

Equipment shirt, Antipodium shirt (in black here), J Brand boyfriend jeans (from The Iconic), Apple iPhone 5, Aesop Geranium Leaf body scrub and A Rose By Any Other Name body cleanser.

There's just something so satisfying about acquiring new things, regardless of the fact that you're parting with your hard earned money. Whether it's something as ordinary as a body scrub or as timeless as a silk button up shirt, the feeling never gets old. Putting something on for the first time, wearing it in, making it your own. It's a feeling that only happens once for every item, but boy when it does it's such a special moment, even though no one else can recognise it except you. You feel like you can take on the world.

These are all the bits and pieces I've acquired over the last week (and most recently a Kahlo tank which came after I took this flat lay yesterday). The two shirts (obsessed with building up my shirt collection at the moment) were from birthday gift vouchers (thanks Tim and Sarah), the boyfriend jeans I managed to sneak in with Jack's leather dress shoes he purchased from The Iconic, the Aesop I justify by saying I need it for my dry skin and my iPhone 5... I just had  to have it (well considering where I work, I think it would be wrong of me not to).

totes wang.

Oops I did it again? I know, I know, you're probably shaking your head disapprovingly at the screen but this time I couldn't help myself! I've been obsessing over the Emile and the Prisma for ages - more specifically the rose gold hardware. So when I found out Green with Envy somehow had them in stock after being sold out for elsewhere for months, there was no was I was passing it up.

I've always been the tote type - as much as I'd love to walk around with a cross shoulder bag or a shoulder bag I carry on the crook of my elbow, the reality is it's just not practical for the student life that I live. Not that it's anything fancy - my bag is probably the most glamourous part of my life. Monday to Friday I can be seen carrying around multiple tote bags: a Longchamp bag for my valuables and laptop (because it's waterproof), a Gary Pepper Vintage cloth tote for my readers and texts and if I'm really busy a My Chameleon tote for my jacket/ cardigan just in case the weather changes drastically (which it's known to do in Sydney). Just call me the crazy bag lady. Shopper totes are clearly the easiest way to carry everything and anything - perfect for someone like me who packs for the day last minute as they are rushing out the door.
