olive & finn.

1. Dress: Carly Hunter 2. Necklace: Solis 3. Print Denim: Ellison 4. Olivia Howard, the brains behind Olive & Finn, 5. Every purchase is packaged and sent in a drawstring bag.

An online store should be like a well-currated gallery. Navigation should be simple, items should be organised appropriately, it should be clean and minimalistic in its layout and it should be easy enough to find what you're looking for. Olive & Finn ticks all those boxes. Having only launched in August, the e-boutique sets itself apart from being distinct and focused in its philosophy: "A space where young designers can showcase their passions... forging a relationship between the designer, the clothes and those who wear their pieces." The O&F lineup is refined and carefully considered, choosing homegrown Australian and New Zealand design talent with a cult following including Dress Up, Batson, Ellison and my personal favourite, Kahlo (I have my eye on this cape crusader).

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting Olivia Howard, director of Olive & Finn who took me through the current collection with a slew of basics, rainbow brights and some incredibly unique, printed finds (I am referring to this Carly Hunter dress) to see you through the summer. I get a sense of personal intimacy between the customer and the designer in this online space that Olivia has fostered, through the site's design with a dedicated page to each designer's biography, designer interviews and a blog. Choosing to obsess over the "art of fashion, not just the consumption of it", each season Olivia produces a campaign shoot (I am absolutely in love with their debut shoot), mixing and matching the pieces available online in a very wearable way. I'm so excited to watch Olive & Finn flourish in the years to come.

jasper jacket.

'The wand chooses the wizard, Harry Potter.' Wise words Mr Ollivander, ones which I have easily adapted to justify my latest investment. I didn't choose the jacket, the jacket chose me... I swear. I first laid eyes on the Veda Jasper jacket after being introduced to Basically Boutique earlier this year. Although initially taken aback by the price, the jacket had earned the Man Repeller tick of approval, an opinion which I regard highly and trustworthy. The deal was sealed when I tried on Dimitra's one when I met her for coffee the other week. It fit like a glove. Clearly it was meant to be. Or at least I tell myself that.

You may have heard about a little e-store by the name of Basically Boutique (because I haven't done two posts about them in the last week or so). Anyway they are now officially open for business so head on over and check out what they have to offer. They're offering 10% off all purchases until July 8 so now you have more incentive to buy buy buy, just enter NOWOPEN at the checkout. There's free postage with any order over $200 and it comes in a beautifully packaged box. I was lucky enough to score a little pre-sale item and win the title of 'first customer'. I never win anything, so this achievement is something to be proud of. I can't win a race or the lottery, but apparently I can win at shopping.

shopbop collection showing.

1. Tibi pants 2. Theory knit 3. Tibi heels 4. Alexander Wang shirt.

At some point during your daily ponderings of life and other trivial matters, I'm sure you've thought about what Shopbop would be like if it were a physical store. Right before fashion week I was invited to check out some of the new arrivals on Shopbop... in person! It was like reaching into my laptop screen and pulling out the pieces to touch and feel with my own hands. As much as I love a good e-tailer like Shopbop (free express shipping makes them hard to beat), there's nothing like seeing a piece in the flesh, trying it on and taking it home with you the same day, so it was quite satisfying to see some of the things I've been eyeing off in right front of me. The hotel suite turned showroom was organised just like website with pieces arranged on the racks according to their corresponding boutiques. Selected pieces were featured from the designer, workwear, basic essentials and one by boutiques.

Thanks to Shopbop and Torstar for giving me an insight into one of my favourite online retailers.

molten love.

The other day I was sent a package from the lovely Jessy at Molten Store with these little gems inside. I was lucky enough to have won Modern Legacy's giveaway and been given this incredible orange beaded clutch and I thought while I was at it I may as well purchase the subtly elegant Mister Ray choker that I've had my eye on for months.

I've compiled for you my favourite items from the store. I would encourage you to check out Molten Store if you haven't already - I love browsing through their carefully curated online selection of otherworldly treasures. They make the effort to select pieces you might not normally consider when you think statement jewellery - not the kind of statement that jumps out at you. Their jewellery has a more organic aesthetic that is both delicate and understated. Whenever I'm feeling a little uninspired by the conventional costume jewellery that's out there, I turn to Molten Store. Probably their most unique offerings are their one of a kind clutches complete with their clashing prints, injection of neon, fringing, beading and pom poms (I think everyone could use a Confetti Days clutch in their life. It just spells f-u-n).  Their stationery and curious gifts are the perfect affordable solution for a last minute birthday present or special occasion or if you feel like treating yourself to a little something something. Hop to it kids!

O N L I N E

Lately I've been really disenchanted with what's in stores at the moment (I've tried shopping multiple times last week and I just don't see anything that catches my eye or stops me in my tracks - maybe I've lost inspiration or perhaps I'm just more conservative since my hours got cut back at work). I've resulted to hitting the online stores which has been a little more successful than my shopping and market trips. I did a little bit of digging and discovering since I found that my usual go to online stores (ASOS, Topshop, Nastygal, Market HQ, Storets, My Catwalk, The Grand social etc.) had nothing of interest either! So thanks to some major procrastinating and delving through Lookbook.nu and other street style bloggers, I bring you a short list (in no particular order) of online stores to check out!

Spanish Moss: I love the look and feel of this store, a lovely mix of clothing and accessories photographed and styled to perfection. It's very boho/ hippie chic especially with its necklaces and rings. They showcase some great one-off unique vintage pieces as well so if you're sick of trawling through racks of clothing at vintage or second hand stores, Spanish Moss collected the best of the best.

Yayer: discovered via LLYMLRS, is a UK-based boutique featuring both vintage and new designed pieces for super affordable prices (everything is around £20 to £50). Right now they're flaunting the midi length and accordion pleated skirts in a bunch of art deco and tribal inspired prints as well as vintage blouses and singlets. It's really good basics in some unique prints and patterns so everyone is bound to find something they like! The only thing is that they're quick to sell out of their stock (every time they have a new drop of stock it goes within a few hours) so if you see something you like, go get it!

I Don't Like Mondays: These guys have been appearing all over the customised ad sections of webpages I visit, at first I thought little of it but I am so glad I finally decided to click otherwise I wouldn't have a T by Alexander Wang knit hanging up in my wardrobe. The US based store stocks brands like Cheap Monday, Obesity and Speed, Odeur and Savant - all basics and printed tees yet again (you know I love that stuff) that you probably won't see in stores. And best of all - free international shipping over $100!

Need Supply Co.: Another one of those online store you see web adverts for all over the place (namely Lookbook). They stock alot of brands you see everywhere like Cheap Monday, Style Stalker, Low Luv x Erin Wasson, Mink Pink and Jeffrey Campbell etc. but they have alot of great unknown or cult/ indie labels as well. I think part of what makes a online store that much better is the layout of the page and also the way they shoot the clothes. They have plenty of shots from all angles for every piece and also measurements and detailed descriptions (which alot of sites lack - I hate not knowing how long something is especially because I'm not model tall).

I think I've only just touched the tip of the iceberg (I have been through quite a few but I only posted the ones I thought were quality), so if you have any recommendations for your favourite places to shop online, let me know :)
And thank you to all my new followers and comments left on my blog. You have no idea how much it means to me that people (besides my close friends) are reading and enjoying this. So keep them coming. Back to writing that darn essay! xo
