wild runaway.


Can't quite put my finger on what draws me into this A/W editorial by Door121. Is it doe-eyed Kendall Waters (one of my new favourite faces), the 90's grunge feel with the styling featuring the likes of Nick Campbell eyewear, Meadowlark, Viparo, Hansen & Gretel and Pol, the washed out grainy vintage look to the images, the eerie and hypnotic short film accompanying the shoot (I'm sensing a Virgin Suicides vibe) or is it its ability to capture a distinct mood and seamlessly weave together a narrative about a young girl escaping the dull and repetitiveness of daily life? Whatever it is, I'm absolutely captivated.

Probably not an outfit that looks very 'together' (but you never know it might surprise you), but more of a collection of things that I need for my summer wardrobe. I've finally let go of the knit (it was hard to say goodbye to the Acne Ruth Twisted Knit, hopefully there will be something equally as lovely come Japan) and ready to embrace t-shirt and shorts weather with open arms (get it? cause singlets don't have sleeves?).

To ensure summer survival, I believe the following items are needed: (1) The staple button up shirt, in any colour which will aid you eventually with the (sad) transition to fall and winter. Wear buttoned up and tucked into shorts or as a loose jacket type thing. (2) The white short. So Isabel Marant brought us the pale pink short but I'm all for the white short, just so I can wear white all over. (3) A small shoulder bag. There's no need to carry huge tote full of bits and bobs while you're shopping/ out with friends. (4) A statement cuff. If you're like me and your summer wardrobe consists of shorts and plain white t's, then you can afford to go big with your jewellery. And finally (5) A good pair of wedges, because thongs are just downright plain and boring.

The idea of an all white outfit is so appealing right now. First of all it's extremely functional because white will keep you cool (and black absorbs the sun's rays - is that true or did I make that up?). It's also very chic, clean and exudes this effortless air about your dressing. It's just taking me back to last summer, seems so long ago now, everything was so relaxing and standstill. I had all the time in the world (not like my semesters are, what with all this working, uni and interning). And of course the white on white has to be broken up with black/ gold belt or brown bag. Your pick. 

The days are heating up and the nights are staying warm. I feel like there's so much more flexibility when it comes to warm weather dressing, don't you? I'm still having that issue over when the appropriate moment is to stop wearing jeans and start wearing shorts.

PS. I was trying to think of something special for my 100th post but couldn't really (especially given the time I have) so this will have to do. Emmanuelle Alt and Hanneli - two wonderful women in fashion. Thank you to anyone who's ever read my blog and given me feedback - it's comforting knowing my best friends aren't the only ones reading it out of sympathy. I'm hoping that this little project of mine will continue to grow over the next 100 posts. Happy 100!

Not going to lie, I love this ring and have fallen under its spell hence the need for inspiration post numero four. I'm hopeful that my boyfriend or best friend *hint* will buy it for me for my birthday or something (which isn't until August, but I'm preparing early). This is probably me trying to conform to the trends and such (Jack said it would be funny if I got one and was finally accepted into the blogger community - it's true though, every blogger has one!) but I really think a ring like that speaks for itself. And because I'm a mess when it comes to accessories, so it would be a great for me because it's a statement piece that can be worn on its own (I have a sunburst House of Harlow necklace that honestly gets worn with absolutely everything - that's how hopeless I am). Hopefully it won't engulf or weigh down my tiny fingers though. And I still can't figure out what colour would be best.

I am really starting to love these inspiration posts, especially at the moment because I'm trying to procrastinate from my media assignment. Ever since I bought my medium carry-all clutch from American Apparel, I've been taking it out with me everyday, to work, to dinner, to uni. And I'm currently obsessing for more in different sizes and colours. I love that these babies pretty much go with anything for any day or event, and I can just throw all my essentials in it and run out the door. And you'll be surprised how much you can fit in it too (try notepads and work shirts!) Of course I wish I owned a Celine one, but I think the AA ones are just as great (and affordable). They come in so many different colours, the leather is super soft so you can fold it over and carry it a tonne of ways. My tip: buy a colour out of your comfort zone (yes no blacks or greys), it'll really brighten up your winter darks and neutrals!

Whoever told me horizontal stripes would be totally unflattering was oh so wrong! I find myself season after season dying for new stripes - thin nautical stripes or thick block stripes, tops, dress, knits, whatever I can get my hands on. I love it because it works so well layered under anything from leather jackets, denim shirts, khaki parkas, blazers. Super versatile, easy to style and works for every occasion.

T R E N D I N G // C A B L E K N I T

I've been told to hurry up and post this because I'm spending all my precious study time trawling through pages and pages of blogs to find images for my very first inspiration blog. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and I know that my obsession for cable knits (and knits in general) can only be expressed through this collection of images. I am loving the cable knit + shirt with collar combo and the plaiting detail, which is a new take on the standard chunky sweater. I have been told off my boyfriend and my best friend to stop looking for more knits to buy (my latest purchase was a T by Alexander Wang pullover) but I honestly can't get enough of them - in sweater or cardi form, loose or tight fitting. What can I say? It gets cold commuting to and from uni every day, and I need to rug up!
