Superga sneakers | Three J NYC pyjamas | By Charlotte necklace

Having sold my soul for two ridiculously-overpriced-but-oh-so-beautiful pairs of shoes, I have put my spending on hold for a good month or two and aptly so. The two lay-bys that need to be paid out, are the exception (credit cards and lay-bys are both the best and worst things ever). So I'm left taking mental notes of future acquisitions in a loosely themed Valentines Day wish list. I've got the pyjamas, necklaces, perfume and lingerie to satisfy the romantic notions of this Hallmark holiday (which I will admit is a nice excuse to receive presents/ flowers/ eat at a fancy restaurant), but for the practical gift giver I've included sneakers, a sweater, a hat and a bag. So Jack you have plenty of options to choose from. No excuses. Kidding. But for all of my single ladies out there, don't forget to treat yo self. You know you're worth it.

I've been obsessed with the Sono Mama tee ever since I saw Nina Garcia unexpectedly repping it on Project Runway (yes it is still airing and very much my guilty pleasure) a few episodes back. It brought a sense of youthfulness and understated chic I never knew she had in her. Though classified a tee, there's nothing plain about it - the jewelled neckline, mesh sleeves, low v neck, a completely mesh back and of course the crowning crest which looks part biker gang, part fraternity. Sono Mama is actually Japanese for as you are. I thought imaginary gang name at first but this is much more meaningful and in an obscure way. I put together a little polished grunge look with the leather, distressed denim and mesh contrasting with silver hardware, pointed flats and that Sarah & Sebastian headpiece. Get it all on my body now.

As much as I like to tell myself I'm content with slouchy white tees and denim cut offs, I do dream of the day my wardrobe becomes more successful career woman and less uni student working in retail. Where heels or pencil skirts are the norm and not considered dressed up or over adorned. The number of times I've tried on that amazing designer piece (take this Ellery Cinnamon cape top for example) and had to turn it down simply because I had no occasion to wear it - even if that occasion was a 9 to 5 desk job. If only that extreme shoulder detail wouldn't turn heads walking up and down Eastern Avenue.

It's so strange the way life works. You die to get past the HSC so you can have more freedom working part time and studying at uni, but when you finally get there you long for the closed-off, spoon-fed environment of high school. While you work your butt off at uni, all you want to do is get a real job that actually allows you to have weekends off and a stable income. This is me at present but I have been told time and time again from friends and recent graduates that I should be grateful not to have to deal with any real world decisions and I should appreciate what time left I have living at home with my parents and not having to pay for rent. I honestly can't wait to graduate in a year so I might actually be able to fork out a little more money on clothes (ha what a joke you say) and build up that fancy wardrobe (aka everything on Matches) I've always dreamed of. But since I actually have no career direction right now, I'd say being on my three month uni break is a good place to be.

summer wardrobe planning.

Welcome spring! Gone are the days (well maybe not quite yet) where I have to wear the same black coat day in day out and stack on the layers to keep me warm during my early morning and late night commute. Hello longer daylight, banana smoothie weather and (in my opinion) easier outfit decisions. Wasting no time on this seasonal change, I'm already gearing up for some new purchases. First on the list: the panama hat.

wishing and hoping.

The big two-one is slowly creeping up on me but I'm no where near as hyped as I thought I would be. I missed out on having a huge 18th birthday bash and I anticipated saving a celebration for my 21st but after months of sifting through venues, enquiring about minimum spends and contemplating guest lists I ended up opting for the low key dinner with some of my closest work mates. Not exactly what I would have envisaged but hey, let's just save the big one for the wedding*. I'm more excited about having a weekend. Jack booked us a stay at the Shangri-la which means a whole two days of rest and relaxation. 

Here's my obligatory birthday wish list in collage form. I was spoilt rotten by the boy who bought me a MacBook Air (cross that one off the list) and gave it to me a week early (blogging as we speak on my new baby), I've secured a Jordan Askill ring as my 'self' birthday present and I've chosen to spend my parents' birthday money on a PS1 wallet. I can't even comprehend becoming 21 - I still think I'm a teenager. Already fear I'm getting older and still haven't achieved anything significant in life.

*Not happening anytime soon obviously.

With uni, a part time job and interning consuming my life (and barely anytime for myself), all I can think about is comfort, practicality and an inkling of stylish-ness. I usually don't have time in the morning to fuss about my outfit so I'll tend to opt for the failsafe tee and jeans combo. I've pulled together my ultimate 'everyday chic' outfits based around two printed tees I'm obsessing over (Zoe Karssen and 3.1 Phillip Lim) along with some other items I've loving/ lusting. These include: the perfect fitting leather pant for a slimming silhouette, printed denim for added interest, beanies to hide sleep ins, bombers for the morning and evening chill, and ankle boots for running around on the go. If money wasn't an issue (ha!) I would not have a problem running these two ensembles on constant rotation throughout the entire semester. What is your failsafe outfit? 

PS. Apologies for being slow on the posts. I know I said I'd be back to my usual blogging self but truth is after a killer first half of the year, I just want to be a lazy sloth and do absolutely nothing. I hope I'm entitled to that!

Going for a job interview tomorrow, just thought i'd make a quick post about what I wish I could wear. This is the first time I've played with polyvore, I doubt this outfit even goes together well. It's more like a selection of things I wish I owned. The Casio watch is next on my to buy list and payday is this weekend!
