w is for.

Armor Lux top, Kahlo skirt, Isabel Marant sneakers, eQUIP necklace, Michael Kors watch, Popetto bracelet, Sabre sunglasses.

Last time I showed you the entrance to The W Hotel and if that wasn't grand enough, I decided to return the following day and shoot inside the resort by their three level pool. Though we arrived in time for golden hour, we missed out on swimming in their pool - which was practically empty. Who goes on holiday and doesn't swim? We made the rookie mistake of asking for towels and followed by the pool attendant asking us for our room number to which we replied 'oh we don't actually stay here.' Should have just guessed a number. Or better still, brought our own towels.

Despite our lack of treading water in a spacious pool we ended up poolside/ beachside sipping on mocktails as the sun set behind the clouds. If there's one thing Bali has an abundance of besides bodies of water it's mocktails which is great for non-drinkers like myself. And they're priced appropriately (unlike here in Australia). After all that rambling the moral of the story is: visit The W or if you have the money, stay at The W. I know I would.

As for the outfit, the striped breton and leather skirt are two wardrobe staples that you've seen pop up on the blog more times than you probably should. I promise I have other clothes. Jazzed up these usual suspects with some neck candy from eQUIP and arm candy from Popetto. Look at me slowly easing up to jewellery. I have only one look left to post from Bali. Sad face, sad face.

off duty.

Outfit number three and I'm motivated to maintaining my resolution. My striped breton, boyfriend jeans, cross shoulder bag and sandals have been on high rotation throughout January. Yes I know this look would translate 100 times better on Miranda Kerr, but hey I'm doing the best with what I've got. It's funny because after looking at the product description on Shopbop, I realise the distressed patch on my knee is really supposed to hit mid thigh. Petite power!

I was gutted when my only day off with Jack which we had planned as a beach day ended up as tops of 23 but alas we went to Bondi, ate some burritos and froyo and took some photos. This is just one of those no fuss, mindless wardrobe choices that I'm constantly reaching for went I need to look semi-presentable. Other than that I've resulted to wearing my gym gear while I'm out doing boring things (yes I've become one of of those women) like posting speeding fines, buying groceries and dropping off dry cleaning. It's actually really effective because part of the pain of going to work out is getting ready so at least if I'm dressed for it I'm half way there.

What's your no fuss outfit?

Simple is always best. In every aspect of one's life. A perfect striped breton and a black skirt showing just the right amount of skin can be as commanding as any other colour happy/ printed/ intricately detailed piece. Which is why black and white has withstood the test of time. Tried and tested over the years, monochrome is back once again thanks to the likes of Marc Jacobs, Jason Wu and Prada.

A hint of red restores balance from the casual Cons and brings with it an element of sophistication. How powerful is red lipstick? The thing deserves to run its own country. It's taken me twenty one years but I have finally learnt to embrace my plump lips. I always thought a bold shade drew more attention to its size and was a little too attention grabbing for me but in fact a red lippy does the complete opposite - it instills confidence and beauty. I've made it a personal mission of mine to wear lipstick on as many occasions as I see fit and as a result my collection has grown from a lone fire engine red lippy has been joined by a deep wine, raspberry pink and a cold pink verging on purple. You should try it sometime.
